10/19: AOL Radio relaunches with Slacker

AOL today relaunched AOL Radio, now powered by personalizable pureplay webcaster Slacker. AOL Radio announced in late June it would migrate away from CBS Radio and partner with Slacker (RAIN coverage here).

The new AOL Radio includes about half the audio advertising it previously had, now playing about 3 minutes of advertising per hour. The cut was announced by AOL Radio General Manager Lisa Namerow at RAIN Summit Chicago. (read more here)

9/13: Our very first RAIN Summit Chicago!

RAIN Summit ChicagoRAIN held its first RAIN Summit event in our hometown of Chicago (here). One of the highlights was undoubtedly Pandora founder Tim Westergren's riveting keynote address (coverage here), in which he argued that there is "little doubt that the future of radio is Internet radio...[and] the music industry should be doing everything it can to encourage this shift."

KnowDigital to host free webinar on curating Facebook fanbase

Coleman Insights digital media research division knowDigital will present its "6 Ways to Deepen Your Fan Connection on Facebook" study in a webinar Friday, October 14th.  The study was first presented by knowDigital president Sam Milkman at RAIN Summit Chicago last month, and is part of an ongoing effort by knowDigital "to provide research-based 'Quick Looks' at various new media issues of interest by conducting in-depth interviews with real consumers."

The webinar will be next Friday (October 14th) at 1pm CT (2pm ET).  The presentation is free and open to the first 500 people who register at www.knowDigital/webinar/.

Today RAIN is excited to bring you video coverage of Kurt Hanson's State of the Industry Address from RAIN Summit Chicago 2011.
