Vegas conference to feature TuneIn, Triton Digital, SNL Kagan and Fox News Radio execs

Today we're announcing four additions to the growing list of speakers set to appear at RAIN Summit West 2012: TuneIn's Carl Rohling, Triton Digital's Rob Favre, SNL Kagan's Robin Flynn and Fox News Radio's William Sanchez.

The conference takes place Sunday, April 15 in Las Vegas (more info below).

Robert FavreRobert Favre (pictured right) serves as the Chief Compliance Officer and General Manager of Triton Digital Data and Analytics. In 2009 as SVP of Technology at Ando Media, Favre led the efforts to introduce new streaming measurements -- Average Active Sessions (AAS), Active Sessions (AS) and Session Starts (SS) -- within the context of the "one minute rule", moving away from the old five minute and quarter hour based measurements of traditional broadcast radio.

Robin FlynnSNL Kagan Senior Analyst Robin Flynn (pictured left) has been analyzing and valuing companies and assets in the multichannel and radio/TV station fields for 20 years, since joining SNL Kagan in 1988. She also hosts several SNL Kagan events, such as the SNL Kagan Radio/TV Values & Finance Summit.

Carl RohlingCarl Rohling, TuneIn Vice President of Sales (pictured right), has served with the company for six years increasing distribution to over 186 products worldwide covering mobile, connected home and automotive categories. Managing TuneIn’s growth from one million users in 2009 to a profitable 35 million today, Rohling has teams based in Detroit, UK, Tokyo, Palo Alto and New York.

William SanchezWilliam Sanchez (pictured left) serves as Director/Executive Producer Web Operations for Fox News Radio. He's been with Fox News Radio for more than six years and has also held positions at ABC Sports, Virage and ABC NewsOne.

Other speakers set to appear at RAIN Summit West 2012 include Slacker CEO Jim Cady, TargetSpot CEO Eyal Goldwerger, The Echo Nest CEO Jim Lucchese and many others.

ESPN SVP of Production/Business Divisions Traug Keller will keynote the conference. RAIN will announce more speakers and panel topics in the coming weeks.

Larry RosinToday RAIN announces the addition of three more industry executives to the agenda of RAIN Summit West 2012: Edison Research Co-founder and President Larry Rosin, Aha GM and Vice President Robert Acker and Rhapsody Chief Product Officer Brendan Benzing.

Larry Rosin (pictured right) has been involved with media for over 20 years, the last sixteen in audience research. Rosin has been recognized as one of the leading thinkers in the field, and advises many of the world’s largest media companies, including Time Warner, Sony, Disney/ABC and EMAP. Rosin founded Edison Research in 1994 and has been a primary force in building the company into one of the world’s largest and most respected media research companies.

Robert AckerRobert Acker (pictured left) has been a pioneering entrepreneur in the connected car space for over 14 years. In his current role, Acker and his team are working to revolutionize radio for today’s connected consumer. Aha organizes content from the web into personalized radio stations that consumers can listen to from anywhere, including from the driver’s seat.

Brendan BenzingBrendan Benzing (pictured right) oversees the design, creation and improvement of the Rhapsody product and service, as well as its marketing and communications efforts. His media career spans 19 years, including over a decade directing development of subscription-based and ad-supported media products for the PC, TV and mobile platforms.

Eleventh annual conference in Las Vegas to be keynoted by ESPN SVP Traug Keller

RAIN Summit West 2012This year's RAIN Summit West -- Internet radio's premiere educational and networking event -- will feature ESPN Senior Vice President Traug Keller as keynote speaker.

The Summit will be Sunday, April 15 in Las Vegas, immediately preceding this spring's NAB Show (please note that this is the first year the Summit will be held on a Sunday). RAIN Summit West, now in its 11th year, will take place at the former Las Vegas Hilton, now called the LVH -- Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.

The Summit's keynote speaker, Traug Keller (pictured), oversees all aspects of ESPN Audio. Under Keller’s leadership, ESPNRadio.com became the most listened to live stream ESPN SVP Traug Kellerof any terrestrial broadcaster in the world, reaching more than three million unique users per month. In another highlight of the event, Kurt Hanson will present his “State of the Industry” address on the future of radio in this age of new media.

9/8: Clear Channel launches new customizable iHeartRadio

Clear Channel launched a Beta version of the new iHeartRadio, which includes the much-anticipated “Pandora-like” Custom Radio service. Simply put, the new iHeartRadio feels like the best effort from a broadcaster yet to take on customizable pureplay webcasters. The service feels well-designed, easy-to-use and cohesive — especially when compared to CBS Radio’s Radio.com, which struggles to weld together separate services. (read more here)

Clear Channel hosted the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas to promote their new custom radio service. The festival took place Friday and Saturday and included performances from Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Black Eyed Peas, Bruno Mars, Usher, Jennifer Lopez and more. (read more here)

iHeartRadio Music Festival took place this weekendOver the weekend, Clear Channel hosted their iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas to promote their new custom radio service. The festival took place Friday and Saturday and included performances from Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Black Eyed Peas, Bruno Mars, Usher, Jennifer Lopez and more. The new Pandora-like iHeartRadio arrived for Android devices over the weekend as well. It launched in beta early September (RAIN coverage and review here) and an iPhone app arrived soon after (here).
