Popular podcast aggregator and directory Stitcher has introduced The Stitcher List as a way for users to easily find the most popular content across various categories.

Actually multiple lists, the main "Most Popular" is a weekly ranking of the most-downloaded podcasts in news, politics, comedy, sports (and 14 other categories). The "Most Shared" shows what's trending in social media; and the "Top Movers" list is featured podcasts hand-picked by Stitcher staff.

The Stitcher List is only on the web at the moment. The company promises to add it to the Stitcher app in the coming months.

A new report shows Europe's online ad market totaled nearly €21 billion last year, as the online segment now gets 20% of the total ad spend on the continent.

This in light of Europe's current economic malaise. Online ad spending grew 14.5% in 2011 over 2010, while the total ad market minus online grew less than 1%.

This information is from IAB Europe's sixth annual AdEx Benchmark study. For comparison, U.S. Internet advertising revenues hit $31 billion -- which is just under €25 billion -- in 2011.
